The Piatkevich lab ( is a multidisciplinary research group that utilizes diverse bioengineering and biochemical approaches to develop novel molecular techniques to study complex biological systems. Our ultimate goal is to develop novel scalable technologies that will offer a new paradigm for probing both functional and structural properties of biological systems to enable a better understanding of the casual correlations between activity and structure in defined cellular ensembles. We also utilize our tools for the systematic analysis of the physiological processes in vivo.

1. Position Type: Research Assistant (Lab Manager)

Job Responsibilities:

The lab manager is responsible for all aspects of the lab to ensure the laboratory run safely and efficiently, including equipment, employees, supplies, software and documentation.

1)Purchase and maintain lab equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensure staff compliance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair;

2)Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders of supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; Work with administrative assistant on Reimbursement;

3)Manage and organize all lab materials and chemicals; keep updated lists with storage location;

4)Maintains laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; making operational or staffing adjustment;

5)Maintains laboratory staff by recruiting, orienting, training, counseling, and disciplining employees under supervision of PI;

6)Keep updated with the most updated university and government regulations pertinent to the lab;

7)Participant in research grant application and management;

8)Package receiving and sending.

2. Requirement:

1)Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, or other related fields;

2)Enthusiastic about science and highly responsible;

3)Excellent Communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with all lab members, external collaborators, university staff, and PI;

4) Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese;

5)Lab manager experience are preferred. Experience with grant writing or patent application is a big plus.
