The Lescar lab ( is a research group that utilizes a combination of biochemical and Structural Biology approaches to study virus entry and replication. We use this information to design antiviral strategies.

1. Position Type: Research Assistant (Lab Manager)

Job Responsibilities:

The lab manager is responsible for all aspects of the lab to ensure the laboratory run safely and efficiently, including equipment, employees, supplies, software and documentation. Main Job Responsibilities include to:

1) Purchase and maintain lab equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality control, and troubleshooting procedures; ensure staff compliance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair;

2) Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders of supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; Work with administrative assistant on Reimbursement;

3) Manage and organize all lab materials and chemicals; keep updated lists with storage location;

4) Maintains laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; making operational or staffing adjustment;

5) Maintains laboratory staff by recruiting, orienting, training, counselling employees under supervision of PI;

6) Keeps updated with the most updated university and government regulations pertinent to the lab;

7) Participates in day to day running of the lab in close coordination with PI.

2. Requirement

1) Bachelor or Master in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, or other related fields;

2) Enthusiastic about Science;

3) Excellent Communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all lab members, external collaborators, university staff, and PI;

4) Excellent written and oral communication skills both in English and Chinese;

5) Previous lab experience is required. Successful experience with research as documented by co-authorship in publications preferred.
