The Sustainable Agricultural Systems & Engineering Lab (SASE; https://www.tomcwanger.com) at Westlake University has developed embedded devices to use images, sounds and environmental data to monitor natural and agricultural environment. We are now developing the cloud solution to analyse the data from our devices.

We are looking for a highly motivated, and innovative individual who is passionate about cloud computing and has experiences in developing Machine Learning solutions on Azure technology products. To be successful you should be passionate about cloud computing, AI, ML  and have a knack for learning in an international environment.

The position will be based in the SASE lab in Hangzhou, China and requires frequent interaction in Chinese and English. You will be required to work independently and as part of our embedded device team.


Job Responsibilities in a nutshell

- Design and develop high performance machine learning application for cloud offerings.

- Implements various distributed algorithms such as model/data parallel frameworks, parameter servers, dataflow based asynchronous data communication in machine learning, and/or deep learning frameworks.

- Design and develop machine learning experiences on distributed computing platform, such as Spark, Hadoop, Yarn, Cosmos, etc.

- Other tasks as assigned


Job Requirements

1. Bachelor or Masters degree in computer science or related field

2. 2 years experience in data analysis, in image/video, natural language, or other field

3. 2 years experience on machine learning or AI cloud platform

4. 2 years experience in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow

5. Knowledge and experience in computing frameworks such as Spark and Hadoop

6. Experience with embedded ML a plus

7. Results-oriented & self-motivated & curious

8. Desire to apply your skills collaboratively in an international team

9. Good communication and presentation skills in Chinese and English


Compensation and Benefits

The research team offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Applications for relevant projects and programs will be encouraged and supported. Starting date: 30th of April 2022 or as soon as possible. The planned duration of the position is two years.
