The Sustainable Agricultural Systems & Engineering Lab (SASE; at Westlake University is working on data and technology drive approaches to develop sustainable agricultural systems. We have developed a machine vision based embedded device to capture images, sounds and environmental data to monitor natural and agricultural environment.

We are looking for a highly motivated, and innovative individual to join our growing team, who has experience in electronic hardware development and software integration ideally in embedded systems. To be successful you should be passionate about IoT, embedded systems, sensor integration, and have a knack for learning in an international environment.

The position will be based in the SASE lab in Hangzhou, China and requires frequent interaction in Chinese and English. You will be required to work independently and as part of our embedded device team.


-Identify appropriate sensors and conduct relevant tests to advance multi sensor integration in our embedded device

-Work closely with our AI Engineer to facilitate the software integration of multiple sensors

-Lead development of new tools to be used with our embedded device

-Write technical documentation and patent applications of newly developed device components

-Optimize the microcontroller script for low power, computational speed, usability and flexibility, etc.

-Review electronic circuit & PCB layout designs while providing improvements and new ideas

-Work together with researchers/the team to create user-friendly platforms such as, an APP, a GUI or IDE, etc.

-Support in our education and outreach activities

-Other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

1.Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

2.2 years experience Python or other languages

3.Experience in electronic hardware development

4.Experience with embedded Machine Learning & Computer Vision a plus

5.Results-oriented & self-motivated & curious

6.Desire to apply your skills collaboratively in and international team

7.Good communication and presentation skills in Chinese and English
