Researchers Reveal Colonic Crypt Receptor for Toxin B From Hypervirulent Clade 2 C. difficile

Recently, Liang Tao and his colleagues at Westlake University identified TFPI as a physiologically relevant receptor for Clostridioides difficile toxin B (TcdB) from the hypervirulent clade 2 lineages. The work, published in Cell on March 17, has filled a major knowledge gap in C. difficile infection pathogenesis.

Yigong Shi’s Lab Reports Cryo-EM Structure of Nuclear Ring from Nuclear Pore Complex

Recently, the Yigong Shi lab at Westlake University published an article online on Cell Research titled "Cryo-EM structure of the nuclear ring from Xenopus laevis nuclear pore complex". In this article, they reported the single-particle cryo-EM structure of the NR subunit from Xenopus laevis NPC with the highest resolution (5.6 Å) to date.

Assembling single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into high-density horizontal arrays is strongly desired for practical applications, but challenges remain despite much research. We developed a nondestructive soft-lock drawing method to achieve ultraclean single-walled CNT arrays with a very high degree of alignment.

In 2020, Hang Shi’s team of Westlake University made a breakthrough by using a transition metal catalyst ligated with hemilabile ligands, and rekindled interests in this field. Very recently, this achievement was selected in the Virtual Issue of Outstanding Work Published in 2020 by Early Career Investigators in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).

Westlake University and Duke Kunshan University Join Forces in a Strategic Partnership

Westlake University and Duke Kunshan University (DKU) are both new research universities in China and not just geographically close. They share common values of tolerance and openness, and are dedicated to create a truly international teaching and research environment to meet future challenges and opportunities.

Westlake University launches partnership with the University of Nottingham

On 22 July,Westlake University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of Nottingham, to strengthen ties between the two institutions in academic and research cooperation.

Westlake University signs strategic collaboration agreement with KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Westlake University recently signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology. This marks the university’s first strategic collaboration agreement with an overseas higher education institution.Professor Min QIU, the vice-president of Westlake University, said that KTH is one of the most prominent universities in North Europe with remarkable accomplishments in science and engineering. He said partnering with KTH will be very instrumental in bringing fruitful cooperation to faculties, students and research exchanges.

Israeli Consul General of Shanghai Dr. Eyal Propper visits Westlake University

Since its establishment, Westlake University has attracted wide attention from social organizations, the media, businesses and governments from around the world. With ambitious goals and an open-minded attitude, the university has reached out and embraced the global community. On July 5, 2018, Dr. Eyal Propper, the Israeli Consul General of Shanghai, and his delegation visited Westlake University. Tian XU, Westlake University’s Vice President and Chair Professor of Genetics, welcomed the delegation.
