Speaker

Prof. Tierui Zhang is currently a researcher, doctoral supervisor at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry and the director of the Key Laboratory of Photochemical Conversion and Functional Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He got his bachelor of Chemistry from Jilin University (1994-1998), PhD in Organic Chemistry from Jilin University (1998-2003). After that, he conducted postdoctoral research in Germany (2003-2004), Canada (2004-2005) and the United States (2005-2009). At the end of 2009, he was employed as a researcher at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He mainly engaged in the research of energy conversion nano-catalytic materials, and has published more than 230 SCI papers in journals such as Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem., JACS, etc., which have been cited more than 17,000 times. The H index is 71. He was selected in 2018 -2020 Clarivate Analytics "Global Highly Cited Scientists" list, authorized 33 national invention patents, invited for more than 40 international conferences reports, and elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2017. He has been funded by the National Foundation of China "Outstanding Youth", the Royal Society Senior Newton Scholars, the German "Humboldt" Scholars Fund, the Nano Research Young Innovators Award in Nano Energy 2019 as well as the Outstanding Youth Award in the field of solar photochemistry and photocatalysis. Prof. Zhang is the associate editor of Science Bulletin and the editorial board member of Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Science, Solar RRL, Scientific Reports, Materials Chemistry Frontiers, ChemPhysChem, Carbon Energy, Innovation, SmartMat and other journals. He currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Society for Materials Research, the director of the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Photographic Society, and a member of the Youth Workers Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society.


Abstract:

Photocatalytic technology is considered to be one of the most promising technologies for solving energy problems. The development of new and efficient photocatalytic materials is the key to the practical application of this technology. Layered double hydroxide-based nanostructured materials have become a research hotspot in the field of photocatalysis due to their many advantages such as adjustable electronic structure and low price. In recent years, our research team has increased the active sites by introducing defect structures on the surface of layered double hydroxide, enhancing the adsorption and activation of reactants CO2, N2, etc., thereby enhancing the catalytic activity. In addition, by constructing active sites on the interface, the reaction path of intermediate species can be regulated to realize the highly selective synthesis of high value-added products.
