Lei Li, Professor and Chief Researcher, Life Sciences Institute,Zhejiang University
Professor Lei Li received his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Peking University in 1984 and his doctorate from Beijing Medical University in 1989. In the same year, he went to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States to engage in postdoctoral research. He became an assistant professor in 1997, tenure-track associate professor in 2003, professor in 2009. He has been a professor and chief researcher at the Institute of Life Sciences of Zhejiang University in 2020.
Title:Transcription Reprogramming and Genome instability
Abstract:
Our recent studies suggest that rapid and extensive transcription reprogramming poses a major threat to genome stability. The link between differentiation and DNA damage accumulation reveals a novel mechanism of genome scarring and an endogenous cause of malignancies. Dissecting this connection is important to understand ageing and explore new cancer therapies.
