SLS Seminar Series | Huanhu Zhu: The Story of A Unique Fatty Acid—— How does mmBCFA Shape Our development?
Time:10:00-11:30 AM,Tuesday, Dec. 13th,2022
Host:Dr. Kai Lei, PI of School of Life Sciences
Online Lecture
Speaker:
Dr. Huanhu Zhu, assistant professor, ShanghaiTech University
Dr.ZHU,Huanhu is an assistant professor at the school of Life science and Technology at ShanghaiTech University. His lab is mainly interested in signaling roles of nutrient metabolites in animal development and immunoresponse.
Abstract:
How animals regulate their development in response to environmental nutrients is an intriguing question. In the last decade, many excellent discoveries using mammalian tissue-culture systems indicate that specific nutrient was directly sensed by its binding/transporting proteins. However, the discovery of a peculiar fatty acid by Dr. Min Han’s lab 20 years ago which was named monomethyl branched-chain fatty acid, suggests an alternative nutrient-sensing model. In this talk, I will introduce our findings, and discuss the underneath biological significance.
