SYMPOSIUM 04 | Dynamic Molecular Systems

ABOUT


Dynamic molecular behavior is the nuts and bolts of all living systems. Biomolecule machinery is assembled through Brownian motions and interactions of proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, etc. Understanding the nature of dynamic molecular behavior can reveal mechanisms explaining how biological macromolecules perform their functions and regulate their activities. Also, dynamic molecular behavior can account for the variations and adaptations in different organisms and environments. It is the foundation for elucidating the origin of our diversified living world. Traditional biochemical analyses have taken snapshots of a particular moment in time of the biochemical properties of cells. Only recently have technologies in microscopy and the development of molecular probes, computer modeling, and the like allowed us to follow processes like gene regulation in real-time in living cells. In the fourth event of the 10-session symposium series organized by Science/AAAS and Westlake University, Dynamic Molecular Systems, we haveinvited three leading minds in this field to share their thoughts and discoveries on the dynamic molecular behaviors underlying the physical property of living cells.
