Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, a world-renowned computer scientist and winner of the 2000 Turing Award,  joined Prof. Zhaoguang Ge, a well-known historian and distinguished senior professor at the National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University,   for the  2022 Huxin Lecture Series Autumn Session titled “Boundaries of Intelligence” at Westlake University on Sept. 17.

Yao’s presentation dived from visible intelligence to invisible consciousness, leading the audience in an exciting exploration of the boundaries of artificial intelligence. Ge discussed the theme of how traditional Chinese civilization faces modern Western science, and analyzed the relationship between traditional China and modern science. During the question-and-answer session, President Yigong Shi joined the two speakers for a lively “collision of minds”.

This event was held in collaboration with Westlake’s AI-related laboratories with the School of Engineering, presenting a wonderful exhibition on the themes of AI and pushing the limits of human cognition and exploration.
