Westlake University is a new type of non-profit research-oriented university in the People's Republic of China, supported by public and private funding. Westlake University is currently accepting applications from high-level talent for teaching faculty and lab technicians to further expand the University's professional teaching force and establish a high-level teaching system aligned with the University's mission and goals. The specific job responsibilities and application qualifications are as follows:

1. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN

COMPUTER SCIENCE

Number of openings: 2

Responsibilities:

Develop and teach introductory computer science courses for undergraduate students (all courses shall be taught in English, including lab classes).
Enhance students’ motivation and interest in computer science.
Support students’ learning and provide individualized assistance; ensure sufficient office hours to assist students in regular consultation; provide training and guidance to teaching assistants.
Organize and participate in other computer science-related teaching activities on campus.

Qualifications:

Possess or acquire a strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching computer science with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or international university.
Teaching experience (in English) in computer science at leading universities home or abroad, in courses such as Programming, Introduction to algorithm, Data structure, Discrete mathematics etc. Applicants with teaching experience in advanced programming courses for undergraduate students, including Computer architecture, Assembly language, Computer networking and Operating system are preferred.
Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

2. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN

CHEMISTRY (LAB COURSES)

Number of Openings: 2

Responsibilities:

Develop and teach chemistry courses (mainly lab courses) for future undergraduate students majoring in Science and Engineering (in English).
Contribute to the holistic designing of the University’s undergraduate chemistry laboratories and the planning of equipment purchase.
Enhance students’ motivation and interest in chemistry.
Support students’ learning and provide individualized assistance; ensure sufficient office hours to assist students in regular consultation; provide training and guidance to teaching assistants.
Organize and participate in other chemistry teaching activities on campus.

Qualifications:

Possess or acquire a strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals.
Passionate about teaching chemistry with extensive theoretical and practical experience.
Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
Three or more years of teaching experience in chemistry at world-leading universities in China or abroad with demonstrated ability to teach in English.
Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

3. CHEMISTRY LAB MANAGER

Number of Openings: 1

Responsibilities:

Assist in the design, construction, and arrangement of chemical labs for undergraduate education.
Assist teaching faculty in designing introductory and advanced chemical laboratory courses, teach lab courses, and other relevant issues.
In charge of the purchase, preparation, and maintenance of lab apparatus; as well as the purchase, preparation, safety maintenance and distribution of chemicals and reagents.
Enhance students’ motivation and interest in chemistry lab experiments.
In charge of lab scheduling and maintenance; providing safety and security training as well as technical support and guidance for students.
Organize and participate in other chemistry-related teaching activities on campus.

Qualifications:

Possess or acquire a strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching chemistry lab courses with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
A master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field (Ph.D. degree is preferred).
Three or more years of experience in students’ guidance and working in a chemical laboratory at world-leading universities in China or abroad.
Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills in Chinese and English.

4. PHYSICS LAB MANAGER

Number of Openings: 1

Responsibilities

Assist in the design, construction, and arrangement of physics labs for undergraduate education.
Assist teaching faculty in designing introductory and advanced physics lab courses, teach lab courses, and other related issues.
In charge of the purchase, preparation, and maintenance of lab apparatus.
Enhance students’ motivation and interest in physics experiments.
In charge of lab scheduling and maintenance; providing safety and security training as well as technical support and guidance for students.
Organize and participate in other physics-related teaching activities on campus.

Qualifications:

Possess or acquire a strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching physics lab courses with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
A master’s degree in physics or a closely related field (A Ph.D. degree is preferred).
Three or more years of experience in students’ guidance and working in a physics laboratory at world-leading universities in China or abroad.
Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills in Chinese and English.

5. BIOLOGY LAB MANAGER

Number of Openings: 1

Responsibilities

Assist in the design, construction, and arrangement of biology labs for undergraduate education.
Assist teaching faculty in designing introductory and advanced biology lab courses, teach lab courses, and other related issues.
In charge of the purchase, preparation, and maintenance of lab apparatus.
Enhance students’ motivation and interest in biology experiments.
In charge of lab scheduling and maintenance; providing safety and security training as well as technical support and guidance for students.
Organize and participate in other biology-related teaching activities on campus.

Qualifications:

Possess or acquire a strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching biology lab courses with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
An extensive theoretical knowledge; a Ph.D. degree in biology or a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or international university (applicants with five or more years of teaching experience with a master’s degree may also be considered).
Three or more years of experience in students’ guidance and working in a physics laboratory at world-leading universities in China or abroad.
Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills in Chinese and English.
